Located at 142 North Street, Station 2 was built in 1881 and was NOT affected by The Great Salem Fire of 1914. Although the horses and hay lofts are long gone, Engine 2 still responds to emergencies from this station today !! It is said to be the third oldest, continuously operating station still open in the United States. Third only to the Central Fire Station at 50 School Street in Taunton, Massachusetts which opened in 1869 and Peabody, Massachusetts' Headquarters at 47 Lowell St. which opened in 1873.
